Once known as the “longest, wickedest street in the United States,” Highway 40 locally carries the name “Colfax.” Named for Schuyler Colfax, former speaker of the US House of Representatives, the street connects our region to its pioneer roots. Join us for a look into a storied past: a slow slide into seedier times and a new era of rebirth. From Golden to Lakewood, Denver to Aurora, it’s 26 miles of history, surprises and the rushing development of the modern day. Colfax is a microcosm of Denver society, and this tour will help us learn about ourselves. No streetwalking necessary!
Includes bus transportation and a break for lunch on your own dime.
