Using Broadway and Colfax to divide the city into quadrants, the area that makes up northeast Denver contains some of the oldest neighborhoods that emanated out from a growing central business district. Northeast Denver was once the suburbs of a much smaller Denver. Today, this part of the city contains vast stretches of original 19thcentury Victorian homes and much newer subdivisions that came to full bloom in the 20th century such as Park Hill. Join historian Amy Zimmer, author of Denver’s Historic Homes and Lost Denver, for a look at the fancy homes, movers and shakers and the built environment of northeast Denver. Making a strong case for the importance of historic preservation, Amy will focus part of her lecture on what managed to survive for posterity in this part of town.
