Lecture - A Mighty Long Way: From Little Rock to Denver 7PM
Tuesday, March 20, 2012 - 7:00pm - 8:00pmThe integration of Central High in Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1957 set the stage for a battle over the desegregation of schools across the United States. When nine black students entered school that fall, they had no idea of the impact they would have on the national debate over race relations, access to public facilities, and fair housing. Carlotta Walls LaNier, one of the Little Rock Nine, graduated in 1960, eventually moving to Colorado.
History Colorado is honored to welcome Carlotta LaNier as she discusses her experiences in Colorado and reflects on the progress of race relations.
