Hands-on learning

School Programs

Students explore life in a booming silver mining camp while stepping back in time through house tours and role-playing activities. We have designed an information packet that provides teachers with some background on Leadville history, along with pre-visit activities for students. All activities meet state educational standards.

Cost: $2 per student 
Note: Overnight trips can be arranged to visit all the Leadville-area museums.

Healy House Museum & Dexter Cabin, along with other participating museums in Leadville, will be offering $1.00 admission in honor of Archaeology & Historic Preservation Month.

Ye Olde Flea at Healy~Leadville
Saturday, June 15, 2013 - 10am - 4pm

 

Local artisans will display crafts, art, antiques & collectibles, jewelry, homemade soaps and botanicals, psychic readings, food booths, activities for kids of all ages.

Victorian Architecture Tour~Leadville
Friday, June 21, 2013 - 10am - 3:30pm

Offering a private tour of Healy House Museum, Dexter Cabin and Robatille’s House With an Eye. There will be a catered box lunch on the lawn at Healy House where you will learn more about Leadville’s beautiful Victorian Architecture & receive a copy of Bamford’s Leadville Architecture.

Cost: $45. Deadline for reservations is June 1, 2013.

See the alpine flowers at their peak, splashing the mountain world with vibrant color! Join experienced guides for a hike through pine forests, aspen groves and open meadows to view a multitude of varieties of wildflowers. Enjoy a catered box lunch on the lawn at the Healy House Museum, stroll through our heritage gardens, and take a private guided tour of Healy House Museum and James Dexter’s cabin.

Cost: Wildflower train tour $48.00 per adult ($24.00 per child)
Healy House Lunch and Tour $20.00 per adult, $15.00 per child (under 12).
