Before you request newspaper research
Check Colorado's Historic Newspaper Collection, a digital archive of Colorado's earliest newspapers, to see if the article you need is available online. This is an ongoing digitization project that includes selected Colorado newspapers up to 1924.
How to request research
- Fill out the research request form.
- In the Research Request section, include as much background information as possible. If you are requesting a newspaper notice of an event, such as a birth or death, we must have both the place and date.
- Either mail the form with your payment to the address on the form or email the form and call us with a credit card payment.
If we can't find what you're looking for
We will send a letter documenting our search and where possible, suggest alternative resources. If your request will require an extensive search, we will send a list of researchers with whom you can negotiate for a more detailed search.
