Borderlands Initiative

The Arkansas River in Colorado (or Rio Nepesta) once carved the border between the United States and Mexico. Our El Pueblo History Museum marks the site of the original El Pueblo, established in 1842 along the border.

Through a series of exhibits, events, and digital content, History Colorado is telling the stories of the Borderlands of Southern Colorado.

Coming soon! Borderlands of Southern Colorado exhibits at Fort Garland Museum & Cultural Center and Trinidad History Museum
