Celebrate Archaeology and Historic Preservation all year!

Here at Colorado's State Historic Preservation Office, we celebrate Archaeology & Historic Preservation all year!  We recognize the importance of preserving our state's history and that it oftentimes starts at the local level.  Below you will find a calendar dedicated to archaeology and historic preservation events that are open to the public.  Whether our office staff is out engaging with communities or a local historical society is hosting an event, we try to promote all things preservation so if you have an event submit your details through the link.

If you have questions, you can contact Lindsey Flewelling; lindsey.flewelling@state.co.us or Sara Kappel; sara.kappel@state.co.us.

Archaeology and Historic Preservation Month

Colorado celebrates Archaeology & Historic Preservation Month in May. The month highlights special preservation projects, archaeological talks and prehistoric or historical sites cherished by local residents and visitors.  Events include lectures, the preservation initiatives of local communities, workshops, demonstrations and public displays.

Help spread the word that preserving the past is important.  Saving significant prehistoric and historic places ensures that future generations in Colorado will maintain a connection with our shared cultural legacy.
