Internships & Fellowships

History Colorado is committed to providing hands-on learning and career experience through our internship program. Interns have the opportunity to work closely with museum professionals on a variety of projects to gain practical training in museum work.

Currently Available Internships:

Legacy Loan Internship

Internship Location: Hybrid remote and on location at the History Colorado Center, Denver, CO (This internship will start as in person with the possibility for remote work after 4-6 weeks)

Qualified candidates may receive academic credit through their college or university. *Check with
your school's Internship Coordinator BEFORE accepting the hiring offer to determine if this
position satisfies the criteria for receiving academic credit.


Desired Schedule: 12-15 hrs a week for 8-10 weeks (2 days a week, Monday through Thursday, 10 am - 4 pm.) June 10 – August 23, 2024.

John & Jake Emery Family Curatorial Internship

Internship Location: History Colorado Center, Denver, CO

Stipend: $2,500. The stipend is not salary or compensation, it is meant to support study and research during the tenure of the
appointment.

Qualified candidates may receive academic credit through their college or university. *Check with
your school's Internship Coordinator BEFORE accepting the hiring offer to determine if this
position satisfies the criteria for receiving academic credit.


Desired Schedule: Approximately 10 hours per week for a total of 150 hours between June 1 and August 31.

Museum Education Internship

Internship Location: Trinidad History Museum, Trinidad, CO

Stipend: $2,000. The stipend is not salary or compensation. The stipend is meant to support study and research during the tenure of the appointment and will be issued upon completion of the internship.

Qualified candidates may receive academic credit through their college or university. *Check with your school's Internship Coordinator BEFORE accepting the hiring offer to determine if this position satisfies the criteria for receiving academic credit.

Desired Schedule: 5-10 hours/week (for a total of 150 hours), May - August 2024.

Where can you intern?

Interns are assigned to museum departments based on the department's need and the educational background, experience, and interests of the intern.
 

Who can apply?

History Colorado welcomes candidates that are high school, college level students, recent graduates, graduate students, postgraduates, and professionals. Please check the application instructions for eligibility for each specific internship as they do vary.
 

Benefits for History Colorado interns

All interns are recognized at an annual party for hours contributed during the previous year.

Interns receive a 10% discount in the Museum Store while wearing their badge.

Interns who volunteer 25 hours are eligible for a History Colorado Membership with a 20% discount.

Interns receive reduced parking rates at the Cultural Center Parking Garage while volunteering.
