On August 1, 1876, President Grant made Colorado the “Centennial State.” 

Celebrate Colorado’s birthday with music, dancing, performances and FREE ADMISSION!

At the History Colorado Center

Make adobe bricks, watch pigs perform tricks, and meet the creators of our Postcard Colorado and Self-Preservation art installations. We’ll have performances, demonstrations, and more! Make it a day and see exhibits like LEGOradoZoom In: The Centennial State in 100 Objects and Play Ball! A Celebration of America’s Game. Be sure to join us for ice cream and trivia with our new state historian Dr. Tom Noel and members of the State Historian’s Council at 2 p.m!

Scheduled activities:

10 - 1 p.m. - Live painting by Anthony Garcia

10:15 a.m. - Governor Hickenlooper and Lieutenant Governor Lynne sing "Happy Birthday" and serve birthday cake 

11-12 p.m. - Top Hogs perform

11-12 p.m. - Meet Miles the Broncos Mascot (on 2nd floor near Denver A-Z)

12-1 p.m. - Meet Bernie the Avalanche Mascot 

1-1:45 p.m. - Watch Your Step! Vintage Dance Vignettes 

2-3 p.m. - Ice Cream Social and Colorado Trivia with State Historian Dr. Tom Noel and members of the State Historian’s Council, Dr. Nicki Gonzales and Dr. William Wei (in Martin Family Foundation Room)

3-4 p.m. - Sticky Fingers Palisade peach cobbler food demo 

4-5 p.m. - Vaquero Performance

At the Center for Colorado Women’s History at Byers-Evans House, we’ll have free guided tours once an hour on the half-hour from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm.

At Fort Vasquez, we'll have birthday cake.

At El Pueblo History Museum, we'll have birthday cake and birthday card making.

At Fort Garland Museum & Cultural Center, we'll have Colorado trivia with prizes.
