Creative Writing Workshop: Writing from Family Stories, Our Lives, and Our Communities

In this creative writing workshop, we'll discuss a few short writings and excerpts by authors from the US-Mexico borderlands, including Gloria Anzaldúa, and begin writing from the well of our own family histories, memories, life experiences and past and present events in our home communities. Discussion, tips and writing exercises will embrace traditional storytelling, memoir, poetry and short fiction in this multi-genre workshop. No prior experience in creative writing is necessary.
The stories told in the Borderlands of Southern Colorado exhibit are getting richer. Join authors, artists, scholars, and activists from around the country this fall for the Borderlands of Southern Colorado lecture series as they deepen discussions an complicate narratives on various Borderlands topics. All talks are free and open to the public.
