Geophysics and Remote Sensing

With classes for amateur and professional archaeologists, the Program for Avocational Archaeological Certification offers expertise outside of an academic degree. This class is hosted by the San Juan Basin Archaeological Society, dedicated to exploring and preserving archaeological, cultural and historical resources in the Four Corners region.

This course discusses the methods, theories, and applicability of geophysical survey and remote sensing techniques to archaeology. Topics will include a brief history of geophysics and remote sensing as it is used in archaeology, basic scientific principles
related, and examples of archaeological projects utilizing geophysics and remote sensing. As this is a new course to the PAAC line-up, comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
