"With the River on Our Face: Poems from the Borderlands"
Wednesday, October 24, 2018 | 6:00PM — 8:00PM
Join us for an evening with Emmy Pérez, the latest in our Borderlands of Southern Colorado lecture series. Pérez will talk about family history, living in the borderlands, and how her travels along the Rio Grande influenced her most recent book, With the River on Our Face, from which she'll share poems. She'll also present video clips and images of the borderlands and Southwest that have informed her writing process. As she presents the poems from her latest book project, Pérez will highlight the impact that community activism and Gloria Anzaldúa’s work have had on her writing.
The stories told in the Borderlands of Southern Colorado exhibit are getting richer. Join authors, artists, scholars, and activists from around the country this fall for the Borderlands of Southern Colorado lecture series as they deepen discussions an complicate narratives on various Borderlands topics. All talks are free and open to the public.
This series is sponsored by Colorado State University-Pueblo. Talks at Fort Garland Museum & Cultural Center are further sponsored by the Sangre de Cristo National Heritage Area.
