The Woolly West: Colorado’s Hidden History of Sheepscapes - Online
Andrew Gulliford speaks about the historical archaeology and ways of life around sheep herding in Colorado’s high country and Utah’s canyons. Along with tales of the 19th and 20th century cattle and sheep wars, he’ll share his findings, photographs and the stories of Basque, Hispano and Greek herders. He’ll describe ongoing conflicts between guardian dogs and hikers and between domestic sheep and bighorns on national forests. His book The Woolly West won the Colorado Book Award in 2019 and the Wrangler Western Heritage Award for Outstanding Non-Fiction from the National Cowboy Museum & Heritage Center in Oklahoma City.
