Día de los Muertos Shrine at Fort Garland Museum
Ancient traditions meet a new moment of grief this year. History Colorado is commemorating Día de los Muertos (the Day of the Dead) statewide with shrines at four museums, inclusively focused on the losses of Covid-19 in Colorado. The shrine at Fort Garland is free and open to our community and will be on view through November 6.
Additional community ofrendas are also open to all at the History Colorado Center, Trinidad History Museum, and El Pueblo History Museum.
All are welcome to visit this community altar, leave personal tributes to any loved ones, or create a paper flower to add to the display.
Coloradans who prefer to remain at home are welcome to submit a written tribute that can be displayed at the History Colorado site of their choosing.
Your letter will be placed in an envelope with your loved one's name on the outside before being placed on the altar.
Este año las tradiciones del pasado se enfrentan a momentos recientes de dolor. History Colorado conmemora al Día de Muertos por ofrendas en cuatro museos estatales, enfocadas inclusivamentes en las pérdidas por COVID-19 en Colorado. Todo nuestra comunidad se puede visitar gratis la ofrenda en Fort Garland. Permanecera hasta el 7 de noviembre.
