The Grant-Humphreys Mansion, built in 1902, is on the National Register of Historic Places and is a Denver landmark. It is located at 770 Pennsylvania Street, in the Quality Hill Historic District, approximately two miles from downtown Denver.
The History Colorado Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is a group of teens from across the state whose goal is to increase youth involvement in History Colorado and its community museums by planning special events and creating opportunities for young history enthusiasts.
What is the age range for YAC?
The age range is 13-19.
How long will each member serve on the council?
Members will serve a term of one year.
When will YAC meet during the year?
Meetings will be held from September through April.
Where are meetings going to be held?
All meetings will be held virtually, although members from the same area can meet at their community museums to plan events and work on YAC projects together.
How many times a month will YAC meet?
YAC will meet once a month, with exceptions if the members are planning an event.
Do I have to volunteer at the museum to be a part of the YAC?
No, you do not have to be a volunteer at the History Colorado Center or any History Colorado community museum to join the YAC. The Youth Advisory Council is considered to be a volunteer position itself, and thus does not require any prior involvement in the History Colorado museums. However, we do expect all accepted members to volunteer at a certain number of community events at their museum(s).
