Join us at the Fort Garland Museum for Hands-on History! Hands-On History provides exciting educational experiences for students (grades 1-7) when they are not in school.

When:  June 10th - July 26th *no camp July 1st - 5th* from 8 am to 4 pm

Weekly themes:

Week 1: June 10-14: Get Ready…Get Set…LeGO!

Hey architects and engineers! Get your hard hats on for some extreme Lego building! Learn the history behind one of the world’s most famous toys and participate in some fun lego building challenges. 

Week 2: June 17-21: The Amazing Race Around the World

Get ready for an Amazing Race Around the World as we travel across the seven continents! Over the course of the week, campers will explore a different continent daily, immersing themselves in the diverse cultures and landscapes that span the globe. Grab your passport and pack your bags and join us for a whirlwind week of global travel as we race around the world!

Week 3: June 24-28: History Rocks!

If rocks could talk, what would they say? Uncover some of Colorado’s hidden secrets through discovery, exploration, and investigation of the rocks and earth around us! 

Week 4: July 8-12: It’s Rocket Science!

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s…ROCKET SCIENCE! Learn about the history and impact rocketry has had on the world, through fun hands-on activities. Plus, be ready to design, build, and launch your own model rocket to end the week with a BANG! 

Week 5: July 15-19: The Art of Storytelling

Stories have been told across the world through dance, art, and music long before people can remember. Learn about the history of storytelling and how stories are told in modern times. And of course hear and tell some stories of your own!

Week 6: July 22-29: Let’s Get Elemental (4 elements) 

Fire, Water, Wind, Earth: The four traditional elements! They comprise the ground we step on, the water we drink, the air we breathe, and the sun that keeps us warm. Learn about history, art, and experience movement through the lens of these four elements!
