Beth Hamedrosh Hagodol

Denver County

Beth Hamedrosh Hagodol synagogue is a part of the Denver’s Wyman Historic District and serves as a neighborhood landmark, featuring detailed brick and terra cotta masonry.

In partnership with Historic Denver, Inc., the building’s tenants, Church of the City, will complete masonry rehabilitation in an effort to bring neighborhood visibility to this historically significant building.  The Church in the City has owned Beth Hamedrosh since 2008 and has performed extensive interior rehabilitation, utilizing 10,000 hours of volunteer work, all while meeting The Secretary of Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.  Once this project is complete, it will offer the community an example of how historic preservation can transform a structure comprehensively and welcome more than one religious group to worship and gather under the same roof.

A brick building with two columns at the entrance. A stained glass star of David sits above the entrance.
