Building 710 was constructed in 1969 and is important for its association with Cold War Era military history.
Designed to withstand a nuclear attack, the two-story underground building, of reinforced concrete, served as the Defense Civil Preparedness Agency’s Region 6 Operations Center. Since 1979, it has been utilized by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) as its Region 8 Operations Center.
