Byers Peak Ranch
Grand County
Dating back to the late 1910s, Byers Peak Ranch has served as a retreat for the public, private interests, and even Dwight Eisenhower.
The then-future president was a friend of the owner, and continued to visit the retreat throughout his presidency. Colorado Preservation, Inc. is using an SHF grant to prepare the site for a district nomination to the National Register of Historic Places. The funds will be used to professionally research the full history of the ranch, collect photographs and maps of the site, and document both the historical and current conditions of the property. This represents an important step toward preserving the site and its historical significance.
