Cherokee Ranch Blunt House

Douglas County

Encompassing 3,100 acres of open space and featuring many historic resources, Cherokee Ranch is a significant rural cultural landscape in Douglas County.

Artifacts on site tell us how humans have used the land over thousands of years, but the site’s more recent homesteading history sparked the interest of the current ranch managers. The Cherokee Ranch & Castle Foundation will use SHF funding to stabilize and weatherize the 1873 Blunt House, which will ultimately be used for historic interpretation and educational programming.
