Colorado Springs City Hall

El Paso County

The imposing two-story building served as the center of Colorado Springs government and administration from its construction in 1904 until 1980.

A view of the building with large pediment and four Ionic pillars supporting it above an entrance at the top of a set of steps, on either side are large vertical windows. In the foreground is a lot of dirt with some construction materials.

Colorado Springs City Hall

An important example of the Classical Revival style, reflecting the influence of the City Beautiful movement in Colorado Springs, it is the only known collaborative effort by prominent local architects Thomas MacLaren and Thomas P. Barber.  The building is noted for the quality of its stone masonry, utilizing Bare granite from Chaffee County and for its significant interior elements, including scagliola wall treatment.
