Grants Awarded

Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center

El Paso County

The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center was envisioned by architect John Gaw Meem as a building in which the visual and performing arts could be celebrated in the same space as arts education.

Since 1936, the award-winning center has been the realization of that vision, and continues to be a vital cultural center for Colorado Springs and beyond. A grant from SHF will enable the center to undergo restoration of the exterior masonry stairs, the battered stone foundation wall, several balconies, the door to the library, several windows, and the rails and tiles of the Café Loggia. This work will ensure that the visual and performing arts will continue to have a historic home in Colorado Springs.

This building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
