Mesa County

The 1938 Fruita Museum, a Works Progress Administration project, is a symbol of the community’s efforts to establish a local museum.

The building is architecturally significant as a well-preserved, well-crafted, and virtually unique example of stone construction.  The exterior and interior surfaces are comprised of a wide variety of rocks that bear distinctive markings.
