Hannah Barker House

Boulder County

Built and expanded during the late 1800s, the Italianate home in Boulder was originally the residence of pioneer woman, Hannah Barker, who was a teacher, civic leader, businesswoman and philanthropist during an era when women’s contributions were often unacknowledged.

In 2010, Historic Boulder, Inc. acquired the Hannah Barker House to save it from demolition after the house had been empty and in a state of disrepair for almost two decades.  With funding from the State Historical Fund, Historic Boulder will complete the fifth of six rehabilitation phrases to rehabilitate original windows, the front door, and the original wrought-iron fence to honor the legacy of this significant Boulder pioneer.
