Hasart Farms

Jacob Hasart Sr., a German-Russian from Lichtenthal, initially immigrated to Idalia with his family in 1889. After moving around for a number of years Jacob purchased the original section of Hasart farm in 1915.

In the late 1920s Jacob's son Jake and his wife Nettie took over the running of the farm. They raised horses, ran a cow herd and purchased calves to summer on the grass. The original claim grew to the current 4,130 acres by 1984. The farm is still very active today, producing grain products and oats for cattle feed.
