Constructed as a red brick, four story, two part commercial block in 1887, the building is significant in the area of commerce for its association with one of Colorado’s leading dry goods retailers.

A fifth story was added during a major renovation of the building’s exterior appearance in 1927.  The property is associated with the Historic Resources of Downtown Denver Multiple Property Submission.
