Shaw was a practicing attorney specializing in water law, and he served as a county judge from 1921 until 1969.  A vernacular interpretation of the Shingle style, the 2½-story wood frame residence has a complex roof.  The walls are faced with clapboards on the first story and shingles on the second.  Other notable features include a large wrap around porch and an unusual carriage house, which was incorporated into the overall design.  Listed under Historic Resources of Aspen Multiple Resource Area.
