Old Colorado City Historic Commercial District
El Paso County
Located on the west side of what is now Colorado Springs, Colorado City, the first permanent settlement in the Pike’s Peak region, was formally organized on August 13, 1859.
It served for a time as the Territorial capital and was annexed by Colorado Springs in 1917. Examples of the Queen Anne, Italianate, and Romanesque Revival can be found among the 27 properties within the district.
