The Rieke Pasture Ranch in Padroni is the property of Werdna Nelson. In 1887 her grandparents, Fedrick and Emma Rieke, were among the colonists who left Kenesaw Nebraska to start a new life in Colorado. Their destination was Denver where they went to the Land Office and filed on 109 tree claims in Logan County, establishing the Kenesaw Valley, now known as West Plains, Colorado.
