St. John’s Cathedral

Denver County

This cathedral was constructed between 1905 and 1911.  It was designed in the Gothic Revival style by architects Tracy and Swartwout of New York, winners of a national competition for its design.

The building is constructed of dressed Indiana limestone, and there are two towers reaching 100 feet in height, which contain bells cast in Westphalia, Germany.  The cathedral represents a continuation of the First Episcopal Parish, originating in Denver in 1860.
