Steamboat Springs Depot

Routt County

In 1906 citizens of Steamboat Springs raised $15,000 to design a railroad depot for their growing ranching and farming community.

Celebrated architect Frank E. Edbrooke, who also design Denver’s Brown Palace Hotel, drew plans for the depot and began construction in 1908.  A year later, the completed building and subsequent arrival of the railroad transformed Yampa Valley into a major cattle shipping center. This year the City of Steamboat Springs will use SHF funding to complete second phase rehabilitation, including foundation repairs and installation of a new, historically appropriate roof.
