Victor Williams Homestead-Sprague Sand Creek Ranch

Park County

Encompassing 109.44 acres, the Victor Williams Homestead-Sprague Sand Creek Ranch lies 0.85 miles north of Tarryall Road (County Road 77) in eastern Park County, Colorado. Accessed from Tarryall Road via a dirt ranch road at milepost 25.6, the ca. 1907 buildings associated with the Victor Williams Homestead sit on the east bank of Sand Creek within a sheltered and picturesque valley. Carefully sited to maximize views of the historic and natural landscape, the E.J. and Marshall Sprague Cabin, built in 1966 as a recreational residence, stands on a rise above and away from the older ranch buildings. The historic landscape within the nomination boundary constitutes a contributing site and includes the seven resources documented in the table below, along with a number of small-scale site features including fence posts and fences, cattle gates, building remnants, and a hay rake.
