DENVER — History Colorado announced today that Janet McFarland Burlile has joined History Colorado as its Vice President of Development and Membership. She was introduced at History Colorado’s Board of Directors meeting on Jan. 22, 2014.

McFarland Burlile brings nearly 20 years of experience in fundraising and non-profit management. She served as the Director of Capital and Major Gifts/Interim Development Director at the Denver Zoo from 2006 to 2013, leading the Toyota Elephant Passage campaign. She has also held positions at Denver Botanic Gardens, the Women of the West Museum and the Denver Art Museum.

Following the successful opening of the new History Colorado Center and capital campaign for its exhibits and programs, McFarland Burlile will spearhead a new operational phase for development and membership.

"We are looking to Janet to structure History Colorado’s development and membership programs for the future and address our many operational and growth opportunities, both in this new facility and with our statewide programs," said Ed Nichols, President and CEO of History Colorado. "History Colorado is at a very important juncture as we look to build new member and visitor experiences while increasing attention to facilities and programs outside of the metropolitan area. We welcome Janet to our team."

McFarland Burlile is a long-time Colorado resident, having grown-up in Pueblo, Colo. She earned an M.A. in American History and Museum Studies from Arizona State University and B.A. in History and Political Science from Colorado College.
