Media Advisory - Help Us Reach Our Military Veterans In Colorado

Denver - To all news media and veterans’ service organizations. Please help us get the word out about this program, which we are sure will be both fun and gratifying for veterans and their families.

  • On Thursday, March 19, Colorado military veterans and their families will be honored and entertained at a special tribute evening at the History Colorado Center, 1200 Broadway in Denver.
  • The event, from 6-9 PM, features a presentation by special guest speaker, Jim Nicholson, a local attorney and real estate developer, and a highly-decorated Vietnam veteran. He served 30 years in the military, retiring in 1991 with the rank of colonel, and was the United States Secretary of Veterans Affairs from 2005 to 2007.
  • The USO Show Troupe, part of a tradition that goes back more than 70 years to its early days in the South Pacific, will present two performances at the March 19 event. The troupe consists of top of the line performers with extensive Broadway, TV and film experience. They perform worldwide, entertaining troops, veterans and their families.
  • The event is held in conjunction with The 1968 Exhibit, which opened Feb. 7 and runs through May 10. The exhibit begins with an authentic Vietnam-era helicopter, which evokes the Vietnam War as experienced both at home and in the field.
  • Quote from Ed Nichols, president and CEO of History Colorado: “Visitors to the 1968 exhibit come away with a new understanding of the debt we owe these veterans and their families. We are proud and happy to extend this long-overdue thank-you to those who sacrificed for us and our country.”
  • The evening event, as well as all-day admission to the museum, is free of charge for Colorado veterans and their families.
