Explore the El Movimiento Exhibit and Celebrate Rocky Mountain National Park’s Birthday during Family Free Day at the History Colorado Center

DENVER -  On Saturday September 12th, come see the El Movimiento exhibit and all of the History Colorado Center for FREE. The Family Free Day includes activities, special performances, and a celebration for 100 wonderful years of Rocky Mountain National Park.

Throughout the day, the History Colorado Center will feature a number of one-of-a-kind events, including:

  • Learn valuable family camping skills and tips from the Camp Moreno Project, a program which aims to introduce Hispanic and African American kids and their families to the fun of the outdoors.
  • Celebrate Rocky Mountain National Park’s 100th Birthday, meet Isabella Bird, an explorer and hiker in the park during the 1870s, and learn about the park’s past.
  • In honor of Mexican Independence Day, the History Colorado Center will have two traditional musical performances.
    • Tzotzollin y Grupo Conchero will play and dance to Conchero music from the indigenous communities who take part in Chichimeca/Mexica (Aztec) traditions.
    • Grupo Folklorico Sabor Latino will perform the indigenous dances of Central Mexico.
