Make Your Halloween Historic!

DENVER - Come to the History Colorado Center to enjoy lots of family fun on Halloween. Special spooky events and activities will be happening all day for kids and adults alike. After all, Colorado history has its share of ghosts!

Museum Trick or Treat

Celebrate Halloween by meeting some famous people from Colorado’s past. Collect tricks and treats as you explore the museum exhibits from people like Titanic survivor, Molly Brown, gold seeker, William Green Russell, and Rocky Mountain adventurer, Isabella Bird.

From 11am-2pm at the History Colorado Center, free with museum admission

Lincoln Hills Memory Kitchen Museum Theater

In Colorado Stories, actress Lonnie McCabe portrays Linda KaiKai Tucker, an African American woman who grew up in 1940s Denver. She draws attention to segregation in the city, and joyously proclaims the merits of Lincoln Hills, an African American resort community in Gilpin County. Tucker recalls childhood in Lincoln Hills as she stands by her kitchen stove.

Special Anniversary Program: “Anti-Chinese Riot in Denver: 135 Years Later”

October 31st not only marks a night for costumes and candy.  135 years ago, Halloween was marked by the Anti-Chinese Riot in Denver. History Colorado is pleased to welcome Professor Zhu Liping of Eastern Washington University for a special program on this gripping moment in Denver history.  During the Gilded Age, Denver may have been an economic boomtown, but it was also a powder keg waiting to explode. Come and learn about the Anti-Chinese Riot of 1880 and explore the lasting repercussions it would have into the future. Following the lecture join Professor Liping and his team for a tour that will take you to the areas of downtown Denver tracing the history of the riot.
