Metro Area Arts and Cultural Organizations Kick-off Rocky Mountain Region’s Largest Día del Niño Celebration

Consulate General of Mexico and Mexican Cultural Center spearhead large celebration and new branding

WHO: Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, Byers Evans House Museum, Clyfford Still Museum, Denver Art Museum, Denver Museum of Nature & Science, Denver Public Library, History Colorado Center

WHAT: Reporters are invited to the kick-off event for the weekend-long Día del Niño celebration, including:

  • A proclamation declaring April 23 and 24 as Día del Niño Weekend
  • Remarks from  Don Mares, deputy mayor of the city of Denver; Jeremias Guzman Barrera, acting consul general of Mexico in Denver; and Cynthia Mares, member of the board of the Mexican Cultural Center
  • Performances by Arts Across Cultures for HOPE with friends from around the globe and Mexico Vivo

Following the performances, representatives from participating organizations will be available for interviews in English and Spanish. 

Día del Niño Weekend will include free admission to each of the participating organizations, and additional programming and festivities to recognize this year’s theme, “An International Celebration of All Children.”

WHERE: Acoma Plaza, between the Denver Art Museum (100 W 14th Ave. Pkwy) and the Denver Public Library (10 W. 14th Ave. Pkwy). In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved indoors to the Just for Fun Family Center in the Denver Art Museum North Building on level 2 in the Duncan Pavilion.
