History Colorado Hosts DocuWest International Film Festival

DENVER – The 9th annual DocuWest International Film Festival, produced by the Artful Journey School of Fine Arts, will be held May 11-15, 2016. History Colorado Center and the Sie FilmCenter will be partners to the film festival and will host the screenings. DocuWest will screen 48 feature-length, medium-length and short films. Several of the films will be making their Colorado Premieres.

“This is going to be epic!” says Wade Gardner, festival founder and programming director. “We want to make Denver one of the best homes for documentary films, and filmmakers. This year’s line-up, and the previous nine years of hard work are starting to finally make that happen.”
History Colorado will host screenings on Friday, May 13 and Sunday, May 15. History Colorado will showcase never-before-screened films from the collection. Friday evening’s historic film will highlight a 1970 slapstick film about the dangers of office life. Sunday’s film will feature Fred Clatworthy’s silent films of Rocky Mountain National Park from the 1920s and 1930s. All of the screenings at History Colorado will focus on films about Colorado or are made by Colorado filmmakers.

Ticket prices vary for the special screenings, and include access to a pre-reception for those events. Regular ticket prices are $12 for general public and $11 for History Colorado Center or Denver Film Society Members.
