Colorado legislators show support for rural medical care and historic preservation

DENVER (August 11, 2016)—Senator Randy Baumgardner and Representative Diane Mitsch Bush delivered a symbolic big check to the Solandt Memorial Hospital board to celebrate their latest historic preservation grant this past Tuesday.

“I am thrilled that Solandt Hospital has been awarded this History Colorado State Historical Fund grant for renovating the interior of the hospital building. As always, the people of Hayden have pulled together and worked hard to make this happen. It was a true grassroots community effort and will benefit everyone,” Representative Mitsch Bush said.

"The historic preservation of Solandt Memorial Hospital shows that public-private cooperation can make great things happen for Colorado,” Senator Baumgardner said.

This grant for $30,239 will be used to continue restoring the Solandt Memorial Hospital’s interior. The historic building is a center of medical and dental care for the town of Hayden and the surrounding rural community.

Including this latest grant, over $224,000 from the State Historical Fund has been awarded for the hospital’s rehabilitation and restoration, keeping it a vibrant and living connection to Hayden’s past, while also providing critical medical services to the people of the region.

The next round of State Historical Fund grant applications are due on October 3. You can find out how to apply at www.historycolorado.org/oahp/state-historical-fund.
