Save your local history: Apply now for a History Colorado State Historical Fund Grant

DENVER, Colo. (March 1, 2018) ━The History Colorado State Historical Fund (HC-SHF) is now accepting applications for qualifying historic preservation and archaeology projects with great public benefit in Colorado. Nonprofits and local governments are eligible to apply for grants to help fund acquisition and development, archaeology, education, and survey and planning grants to preserve historic and cultural resources in their communities.

This grant round’s applications are due Monday, April 2 at 11:59 p.m. The portal can be found here: https://goo.gl/ngsqJW. The application is online-only.

Historic preservation involves the restoration or rehabilitation of buildings, structures, sites, objects, and districts designated as historic by the local, state, or federal government. HC-SHF grants are awarded twice a year in amounts up to $200,000.

HC-SHF has awarded 4,426 grants across all 64 Colorado counties for a total of $298,698,851, a significant investment in our state’s history. HC-SHF was established in 1990 by the constitutional amendment legalizing gambling in Black Hawk, Central City, and Cripple Creek. Funds provided by the gaming tax revenue from these cities goes toward historic preservation projects across the state.

Submitting drafts of applications for staff review is highly encouraged. To learn more about submitting a draft or the State Historical Fund grant program, call (303) 866-2825.
