History Colorado Center Announces Historic Styles Brewfest for Summer 2019

Denver museum featuring limited-edition, thirst-quenchind brews with a historical twist

DENVER, Colo. (March 26, 2019) –In celebration of the History Colorado Center’s newest exhibition opening in May, Beer Here! Brewing the New West, twenty-five breweries from around the state will fill the museum atrium with historic brews on July 20.

For this unique event, the museum will showcase historic beers from Colorado breweries. There will be recreations of ancient recipes, retired craft-classics and popular historic styles. Every beer will have a story to tell, and many of these beers will not be available elsewhere.

“This event will give our visitors an opportunity to travel through time with a beer in hand,” says Jason Hanson, History Colorado’s chief creative officer. “People often wonder what earlier generations were drinking. This is your chance to get a taste of the past.”

Event attendees will enjoy tasting these beers in their commemorative cup along with complimentary pretzels and snacks to cleanse their palates. The event will be held from 7 - 10 p.m. with a special VIP session beginning at 6 p.m. The VIP will include early access to tastings and a guided exhibit tour of Beer Here! by lead exhibit developer Sam Bock.

Tickets will be released to History Colorado members on May 13. General sale for nonmembers will begin May 20. VIP tickets will be offered at $55 (members $50), general admission at $35 (members $30) and designated driver tickets at $14 (free for members). Guests must be 21 years old or older to attend. About Beer Here! Brewing the New West
Beer Here! will feature authentic artifacts from Colorado’s beer and brewing history, connecting time periods and topics through five sections, including 1) where immigrants planted mining towns during the Gold Rush; 2) how Colorado became the industrial hub of the Rocky Mountain West; 3) why the state went dry four years before national Prohibition; 4) what Coors Brewing Company and Ball Corporation contributed to Colorado’s economy and culture; and 5) when the connection grew between the rising outdoor recreation and brewing industries. The exhibition is included in the cost of a general admission ticket and will remain at the History Colorado Center through August 2020. Beer Here! is generously supported by the Ball Corporation and Coors Brewing Company.
