DENVER, Aug. 25 -- Learning to read begins BEFORE a child starts school — as a matter of fact, it begins at birth. That’s why History Colorado provides education programs that include story telling time and early hours on certain weekends for low-sensory children. The next Story Time event is Wednesday, September 3, 2014 from 9:30 – 10:00 a.m.
Grandparents Day will be celebrated on September 7
DENVER, Aug. 25 -- Scientists have long held that grandparents play an enormous role in children's cognitive, behavioral, and social development. On September 7, History Colorado will hold a special celebration for Grandparents and their grandkids at the History Colorado Center.
DENVER - Canstruction® has returned to the Mile High City! This year’s event is presented by the Society for Design Administration and The Gathering Place, and will be hosted at the History Colorado Center from September 20-October 2. Canstruction® is a unique charity which hosts competitions, exhibitions, and events showcasing colossal structures made entirely out of full cans of food.
Colorado immigrants originally from 28 countries will take the Oath of Allegiance to become United States citizens on August 12 at the History Colorado Center during a U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) naturalization ceremony. This is the second naturalization ceremony that History Colorado has hosted. The ceremony will take place from 1:30 to 2:25 p.m. in the museum’s Anschutz Hamilton Hall. Museum visitors are invited to watch.
DENVER, Aug. 5 – Today, History Colorado hosted the unveiling of Colorado’s Civic Health Index report, produced by the National Conference on Citizenship and numerous local, regional and national partners.
DENVER, Aug. 4 —History Colorado has announced the funding of 43 grants for historic preservation projects, totaling more than $4.4 million through the State Historical Fund (SHF) grants program. This is the first in a series of grant award rounds that will take place during History Colorado’s fiscal year 2014-15. In the last two decades, History Colorado through SHF has invested more than $262 million in more than 4,000 preservation projects in Colorado communities in all 64 counties.
On July 15, 2014, History Colorado CEO Ed Nichols testified before the Colorado State Joint Legislative Audit Committee about recent recommendations coming out of History Colorado’s performance audit conducted this spring.
