Safe at Camp
We know that safety is one of the top considerations when choosing care for your child, and never more so than during a public health crisis. History Colorado's museums are ready to begin welcoming back visitors and we are taking extra precautions to welcome kids back to our Hands-On History summer camps.
Before Camp (at home)
Take your child's temperature prior to bringing them to camp
Keep your child home when showing any of the following symptoms or signs of sickness: cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, muscle aches, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell
Pick-Up / Drop-Off
Drop-off and pick-up will take place at curbside
Parents will confirm symptom-free status every day at drop-off
Child check-in and check-out procedures will minimize parent touching of shared items (pens, paper, etc.)
Provide face coverings or masks for children age 3+ per current CDPHE guidance. Face masks will be required to be worn throughout the day
During Camp Day (at the museum)
No more than 10 children will be in one group in the facility
Groups of students will be kept together with same staff when possible all week
Students will be separate from general museum visitors and other staff
Require handwashing upon arrival and enable handwashing throughout the day
Limit the number of child-staff and child-child interaction in common spaces as much as possible in museum spaces
Encourage 6-foot distancing and, where possible, implement distancing systems while learning
Individual meals/snacks in 10-student groups
Disinfect all high-touch areas at start and end of the day and, when possible, throughout the day
Limit the toys in use to those that are easily cleanable, non-porous, with smooth surfaces and eliminate soft, fabric toys, dress-up clothing, sensory tables and water play
Follow clear plan / protocol to isolate staff and children who have symptoms
