The Stewart Ranch near Sanford was homesteaded in 1863 by William Stewart, I. He sold cattle, horses and forage to Fort Garland. The 1870's ranch house is still home to William's descendants.

In 1874, Andrew Camper patented the Elton Camper Cattle Ranch near Westcliffe. Some of the farm structures built prior to 1900 are still in use today, include a horse barn, granary and log cabin.  The Everhart family continues to raise Hereford cattle on the ranch.

The Koch Ranch near Hillside was homesteaded in 1871 by George Koch's grandfather, Frederick. Today the family still uses the 1905 house and 1918 barn, bunkhouse and coal house.

The 920 acre Woodhouse Ranch near Sedalia began as an 80-acre purchase in 1873 by Robert Woodhouse's father, James. He raised dairy cows and sold butter in nearby Denver. Today, Mr. Woodhouse grazes cattle on his ranch that still retains farm buildings dating from around the turn of the century.

John B. Miller started the Keyhole Hereford Ranch near Elizabeth in 1869, near a naturally flowing spring. His family survived the first winter in a covered wagon, the second in a dugout, and in 1871, moved to a real farmhouse that still stands on the property. The horse barn built in the 1880's is still in use. The Millers continue to raise cattle and hay.

The Griffin Ranch on Oak Creek near Canon City was originally secured through squatters rights in 1870. The remaining acres were acquired by Griffin;s son and grandson through homesteading and purchasing land as their neighbors gave up and moved. Many of the wood structures erected in the early 1900;s are still being used. Today, George Griffin and son raise grain and hay.

William Osborn acquired the Osborn Farm near Loveleand from Indian fighter, Captain Juan Duro in 1861. Mr Osborn built the first log home in the area to have a wood floor and shingled roof. He got into the cattle business by walking to Denver and buying up dry cows that came across the plains with wagon trains. Current owners Milo and Madeline Osborn raise hay, corn, potatoes and grain.

The Roberts Cattle Company on the North Fork of the Poudre River near Livermore was acquired in 1873 from the Union Pacific Railroad. The decendants have continued the family's cattle operation. Many of the buildings from the 1800's such as the 1859 trapper's cabin, homestead house, corrals, and log barn are still being utilized.

The Willis Farm in Ft. Collins was purchased by John Willis from John C. Brown in 1877. The old farmhouse, barn, storage and cow sheds and windmill are still utilized for the production of corn, alfalfa, barley and milk.

The R.M. McMillin Ranch is part of the James McMillin homestead of 1876. Today the ranch consists of 19,000 acres. Current owners, James Craig and Mary McMillin, produce cattle, alfalfa and prairie hay on the ranch.
