Colorado currently has 127 local governments with preservation ordinances; 66 (or 52%) of these are Certified Local Governments (CLGs). See a map of Colorado CLGs!
Certified Local Governments are counties or municipalities that have been endorsed by the State Historic Preservation Office (History Colorado) and the National Park Service to participate in the national preservation program while maintaining standards consistent with the National Historic Preservation Act and the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Archaeology and Historic Preservation.
Compass is provided by the Colorado Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation (OAHP) in an effort to provide qualified individuals with access to much of the data available from the main OAHP cultural resource database.
In order to facilitate Federal and State Compliance projects during the current COVID-19 shut down, the OAHP is recommending that site forms, survey reports, and GIS shapefiles, be submitted digitally. For more information, please visit our Submitting your Data to Preservation Programs page.
