Constructed in 1926-27, with additions in 1935 and 1956, the simple one-story wood frame building is associated with the farmers’ organization popularly known as the Grange Movement.

Constructed in 1923 as a replacement for a smaller wood frame school destroyed in a flood, the Coaldale School met the educational needs of the community by serving as the only school until consolidation forced its closure in 1956.

Constructed in 1908 for the local lodge of the International Order of Odd Fellows, the two-story sandstone building served as the primary meeting facility for the town’s various fraternal organizations, as well as the miner’s union.

This very large complex of largely undisturbed pueblo ruins displays significant potential for archaeological research because of its integrity.

The Truscott Junior High School is locally significant as a representation of mid-twentieth century educational trends in Colorado, including the construction of new schools to meet the demands of an expanding population as well as the needs of Progressive educators.

The Shaffer House is an excellent example of the English-Norman style, a modest simplified version of the Tudor Revival style.  Elements of this style found on the house include a steeply pitched roof, brick walls, multi-pane casement windows, prominent exterior chimney, and the “catslide” gable on the façade with an arched entry.

The building derives its architectural distinction from its Classical Revival façade.

The Peep O Day Park is the best extant property associated with Alfred Wild who is significant for his introduction of hops to the agricultural and brewing industry of Colorado, his apple cider vinegar made from his large orchard, the earliest founder of a Colorado gypsum quarry for the production of plaster, and for his hollow clay tile brick company.
