The 1887 Harvey House is the best surviving example of French Second Empire style architecture in Central City.

Opened in March of 1878, the two-story Renaissance Revival style stone building is the oldest surviving and first permanent opera house in Colorado. 

Were it not for the discovery of gold in 1859, there is hardly a more unlikely location for the establishment of a "boomtown" than the rugged and inhospitable terrain of the surrounding mountainsides.  

The Shawnee Historic District is locally significant for its historic association with transportation, entertainment/recreation, and community planning and development. Included in this historic district is a small cemetery.  The town of Shawnee played a significant role in the history of Colorado.  The community is associated with the history of transportation in the Rocky Mountain region, sitting along the route of the Denver, South Park and Pacific Railway construction line, later the Colorado and Southern Railway. 

The 1918 Staunton Ranch is a good representation of an early twentieth century entertainment and recreation mountain resort with Rustic style cabins. 

Begun in 1916, the complex is associated with the development of ranching activities along the county’s Tarryall Corridor.  Built largely of native logs, it is representative of a ranching complex of the period.  

The complex contains a collection of ranch buildings dating to 1925 associated with the development of ranching activities in the Wilkerson Pass area.  Built largely of native materials, the ranch is typical of the area and period.

The ranch complex is located at the western foot of Kenosha Pass.  Construction dates for the wide variety of log and wood frame buildings and structures remaining on the property range from 1883 to 1948.

The circa 1879 Kenosha Pass Railroad Station site is important for its association with the Denver, South Park & Pacific Railroad’s crossing of Kenosha Pass. 

The circa 1880 depot, with Stick style architectural detailing, is a small well-preserved example of a wood frame combination depot.  Designed to handle passengers and freight, it remained in active use until 1937.
