The Provost Homestead - Herring Farm Rural Historic Landscape is significant for its long agricultural association with the development of irrigated farming, crop production and stock raising in northern Colorado. Having been in agricultural use for more than 135 years producing fruits, vegetables, milk, eggs, and hay, it has served as a livestock production farm raising horses, cattle, and poultry and has been home to families who have contributed greatly to the development of agriculture in the area.
