Left behind by Native Americans on the face of a vertical rock wall in the canyon formed by Turkey Creek, the panel of art work is about fifty feet in length, with the main strip at chest height.  It survives as a valuable link in the history of the region’s settlement.

Crossing the St. Charles River west of Pueblo, the 1945 steel rigid connected Parker through truss structure's single span runs for 150 feet.  The bridge was designed by the Colorado Department of Highways, fabricated by Midwest Steel & Iron Works, and built by Frank M. Kenney.

Constructed about 1903, the post and beam Cave Spring Ranch Barn is an example of a bank barn, a name derived from its construction technique.

The complex consists of five buildings.  Benjamin F. Butler, a prominent military figure and attorney from the east, took possession of the ranch in 1882.  The predominately adobe main house is a one-story structure with a gable roof and is known to date from the 1880s.

Originally located on W. 38th Ave, the one-story, flat roofed brick building housed Wheat Ridge’s first post office from 1913 until the early 1920s.  In 1944, the building served as the first home of the Wheat Ridge branch of the Jefferson County Public Library, and a variety of businesses have operated in the building. 

The Tower of Memories Mausoleum lies at the end of a grand esplanade that begins at the east entry of Crown Hill Cemetery.  The seven-story tower was originally designed in 1926 by Kansas City architect Charles A. Smith.

In 1859, James W. Richards came to Colorado via the Smoky Hill Trail and tried mining and other endeavors before establishing a successful freight business.  In 1869, he homesteaded 152 acres located 2.5 miles west of Denver where he built a large two-story residence that includes a mix of Italianate and Greek Revival style detailing.

Located on its original site in what is now the Denver suburb of Wheat Ridge, the three-room sod house is now believed to date from as early as 1864.  The walls are 30 inches thick, and the hipped roof is wood shingled.

The Fruitdale Grade School in Wheat Ridge is locally significant for education due to its association with the Fruitdale and later Wheat Ridge area children as the only school serving the community from 1927 until its closure in 1978.  The school is also significant under social history as the primary gathering space for the Fruitdale community.  Finally, Fruitdale Grade School is locally significant as a good local example of an Art Deco style as applied to a school building and designed by well-known Denver architect Temple Buell. 

A five-block historic portion of Crown Hill contains burial groups memorializing the shared association of local individuals in major life-altering or life-ending events.  For some interees, earlier participation in a major military action, such as the Civil War or the Spanish-American War, ultimately brought them to this common place.  For others, the act of establishing and nourishing new communities at the base of the Colorado Rockies gave them a shared identity and sense of accomplishment, which is recognized here.
