The Fall River Pass Historic District is located high above tree line in Rocky Mountain National Park. The 137-acre district includes two distinct developed areas: the visitor service area at Fall River Pass proper and the Fall River Pumphouse and Catchment Basin, which sits in the valley below. This district includes 131 acres of alpine tundra, a significant character-defining feature.

The 1937 Buena Vista Ranger Station stands on the north side of East Main Street in the center of the historic business district of Buena Vista, Chaffee County, Colorado. The one-story, rectangular, bark-textured orange brick Buena Vista Ranger Station is significant under for the role it played in the administration of the Cochetopa and San Isabel National Forests. The building is also significant for its architecture, as an example of a 1930s US Forest Service combination ranger station, containing an office, storage, and garage area.

To date, more than 1.5 million students have been educated at the Emily Griffith Opportunity School, bettering not only the lives of these students but also the city of Denver and state of Colorado. 

This property is locally significant under Criterion A for Entertainment/Recreation for its historic association with equestrianism and country club recreation in Cherry Hills Village from the 1930s through the present day. In the late-19th century, horse sports emerged as a common means of recreation and entertainment among the city’s wealthy residents.

Craig School #2 educated several generations of Craig’s young children between 1920 and 1971. Designed in two stages by John J. Huddart (original 1920 building) and by Robert K. Fuller (1939 expansion), the school is an example of both Classical Revival style and New Deal-era academic architecture. The school served Craig’s school-age children throughout the next half-century, changing function as other schools in the Craig area were completed.

Built in 1909, Cobblehurst is listed as an excellent example of a Craftsman Bungalow, a style that emerged from the Arts and Crafts movement and became highly popular in Colorado and across the nation during the first three decades of the twentieth century. While its designer and builder are unknown, the house retains a very good degree of integrity and exhibits fundamental elements of the style. These include the extensive use of native materials, primarily milled lumber and river cobble, that tie the building to its setting.

The Mosca Community Hall and Gymnasium was first construct with support of New Deal Programs in ca. 1934. The community built the Hall and Gymnasium from adobe and wood to serve the growing school district as a gymnasium for school sports events, as well as a community center that housed activities ranging from plays to political speeches. The building suffered a fire in 1947 destroying the original Spanish-Revival façade.

The Buckhorn Ranger Station District is located within the Roosevelt National Forest west of Masonville, Colorado. The property is representative of early multiple use land management of public lands and natural resources by the USDA Forest Service. It also represents a shift to more intensive management during the New Deal era and continued and renewed conservation efforts in the 1960s. The historic district reflects origins of the Forest Service as a government agency and its shifting roles during the Great Depression.

Fraternal organizations played a significant role in the lives of members across the United States in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. During the westward expansion in Colorado, they offered companionship and the security of medical, burial and survivors’ benefits in often-hazardous working conditions.

The First Avenue Hotel was designed in 1906 by Denver architect Charles Quayle and completed in 1907 for his clients, the Fleming Brothers, longtime builders and developers along South Denver’s Broadway corridor.
